Pricing FAQs

Will my pricing change?

No, your service fee, interest rate and all costs associated with the card like cash withdrawal fees remain the same. The only instance where pricing might change is if you choose to upgrade or to consolidate multiple Standard Bank cards into a single card.

How much does UCount cost?

UCount has a monthly service fee of R20. If you are already a UCount member, there will be no incremental fee. Click here to find out more about UCount.

Will my interest rate change?

No, your interest rate will not change. The only instance where pricing might change is if you choose to upgrade or to consolidate multiple Standard Bank cards into a single card.

Will my credit limit change?

No, your credit limit will remain the same, but you can apply for a credit limit increase. To apply, call us on 0860 123 000.

Why do I pay for the rewards programme if I sign up?

This fee is charged as a maintenance fee on your loyalty programme where you can collect points when you shop with a Standard Bank credit card. If you are already a UCount member, you will not be charged an additional fee.

 

General FAQs

Can I get a different product?

Yes, you can be upgraded however the upgraded product fee may be higher. We will be converting your existing BlueBean account on 1 August 2017 to a Standard Bank Gold Credit Card which will give you access to the full value proposition, UCount opt-in and other product ranges. To ask for an upgrade today, call 0860 123 000.

What’s in it for me?

You will get access to the UCount Rewards programme, free self-service banking when you link your credit card to your internet banking profile and other great transactional products from Standard Bank.

What card will I get?

You will get a Standard Bank Gold Credit Card on renewal or reordering; you also have an option to upgrade to products such as Platinum and Titanium.

I already have a Standard Bank account. Can I merge my new Standard Bank Gold Credit Card with my existing card?

You can do this by calling us on 0860 123 000. This will merge the two credit limits and the outstanding balance will be transferred to a single account. Both accounts have to be in a good status to qualify. 

Why are you changing my product?

We are offering you a better product which will give you access to UCount opt-in and great self-service banking as well other Standard Bank transactional products.

Is there anything I should do right now?

Fortunately, you don’t have to do anything as nothing changes except your card. We will notify you when your new Standard Bank Gold Credit Card is ready for collection at your nearest branch or we will call you to arrange for face-to-face delivery.

When will the move happen and can I move earlier?

Your account will be moved in August 2017. If you would like to move earlier, call 0860 123 000 to request an upgrade.

Was BlueBean bought over by Standard Bank?

No, BlueBean is a division of Standard Bank.

So what will happen if I still owe money on my BlueBean card?

Your account is simply being converted from BlueBean to Standard Bank so your balance remain the same.

 

Process FAQs

How do I pay this new account?

You pay the same way you have always paid your account – by debit order, by EFT or at a branch. Your account number remains the same.

Will my recurring debit order payments still work?

Yes, your recurring debit order payments will carry on working as your account does not change.

Can I still pay my account with the debit order I have loaded?

Yes, your existing debit order will still work. To load a new debit order on your account, call 0860 123 000.

What happens to my payment protection policy?

Your credit card protection (CCP) cover will remain unchanged.

What will happen to e-statements?

The way you get e-statements will remain unchanged. To switch to e-statements, call 0860 123 000.

What happens to card personalisation?

Card personalisation has been discontinued from 1 January 2017. If your existing personalised BlueBean card expires or is lost or stolen, it will be replaced with a Standard Bank Gold Credit Card.

Will my BlueBean card still work?

Your existing BlueBean card will still work until it expires or when it gets replaced or stops working or is lost.

Do I have to register for UCount?

UCount is offered as an opt-in service. If you are already signed up, you don’t have to register again. Click here to sign up.

How will the move be done?

Your existing BlueBean account will be converted into a Standard Bank Gold account. You will then get a new Standard Bank card when your existing BlueBean card expires or is lost or stolen.

Will my pin change or need to be reset?

Your pin will remain the same. 

I had a Standard Bank Credit Card, which I closed due to fraud. How do I know this won’t happen again?

We have great fraud monitoring measures in place, which will ensure that your money is safe with us. Please remember to keep your PIN safe and remember that Standard Bank will never ask you for your internet banking details via email.
