Your BlueBean Chip Credit Card

Your BlueBean Credit Card has a magnetic strip as well as a microchip on it. This chip is an additional security feature designed to keep your BlueBean Credit Card details safe and makes it difficult for fraudsters to use your BlueBean Credit Card.

What this means is that you will now have to enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN) whenever you make purchases at stores. (If stores do not have a “chip reader” yet, your BlueBean Credit Card will be swiped as normal.) By entering your PIN, you are authorising the payment on your BlueBean Credit Card.

If your Card is removed from the reader before you enter your PIN, the transaction will be cancelled.

Your PIN is Your Secret

You will use the same PIN that you use at ATMs for point-of-sale terminals. Tips to keep your PIN safe in stores:

  • Don’t let anyone see you type in your PIN
  • If you feel uncomfortable, stop the transaction by removing your BlueBean Credit Card from the reader
  • If you feel the secrecy of your PIN has been compromised, please go to your closest Standard Bank branch and change your PIN

PLEASE NOTE! Do not compromise your PIN. You will be responsible for transactions where your PIN has been used
