It's convenient!

  • Know how much money you have (balance enquiry)
  • Find out what's happening on your account (mini-statement)
  • Make payments (beneficiary payments)
  • Buy airtime for Vodacom, MTN, Cell C or Virgin Mobile ( prepaid airtime)

It's cost effective!

There is NO monthly subscription, and on top of that, you will get the following transactions FREE with Cellphone banking:

  • balance enquiries
  • mini-statements
  • prepaid transactions

You will only pay normal electronic banking fees for:

  • beneficiary payments


PLEASE NOTE: Network charges apply – your service provider will charge you for the amount of information sent to and from your cell phone. Luckily these charges are usually very low, so making a payment to a beneficiary may cost you only 4 cents

It's Safe!

Your cell phone banking sessions are secured by the same 128-bit encryption used for Internet banking. You also log on using your BLUEBEAN Credit Card number and a PIN.

As long as you keep these numbers a secret, nobody else will be able to access your BLUEBEAN Credit Card account.



TIP: No banking details are stored on your cell phone, so if you lose it or it is stolen, your BLUEBEAN Credit Card details won’t be on it

It’s Easy!

There are three ways in which you can set yourself up for cellphone banking.

From Your Cellphone
Using the browser on your WAP 2.0-enabled cellphone go to standardbank.mobi and

  • Select “Cellphone banking”
  • Select “Register”
  • Follow the steps
  • Create a customer-selected PIN (CSP) if you don’t have one

What you need:

  • Your BLUEBEAN Credit Card number
  • Your account number
  • Your ID number
  • Your ATM PIN

You will be able to log on immediately after registering.

Through Internet Banking
If you are an Internet banking user you can use the same customer-selected PIN (CSP) for Cellphone banking.

All you have to do is activate cellphone banking on your profile by:

  • Logging on to Internet banking
  • Clicking “Profile”
  • Selecting “Profile details”

A one-time password will be sent to you via SMS or e-mail:

  • Enter the one-time password and select “Continue”
  • Scroll down to “Channels” and select “Cellphone banking” from the tick box
  • Select “Continue” and then “Confirm”
